Three to Four Weeks . . . or Eight DAYS!

Our liquor license arrived yesterday. We were told it would take three to four weeks from the time of our hearing, which was June 2. Instead of weeks, we got it in days. Very exciting. Lots of changes will start happening with this milestone met. More news on the wine bar to follow.

Wine Bar

Second Street Art Market is adding a wine bar. Yep, that's right—a wine bar. We applied for the liquor license six weeks ago. Had our hearing with the Board of Trustees for the Town of Monument this past Monday night, and away we go.

I think we've hired someone to be the general manager, set it up and run it for us. I say I think because we're still negotiating salary. But if it doesn't work out, there are other options certainly.

It is exciting to have a vision for something new again. It has been a year since the art market opened, over a year, and we have accomplished quite a lot in that time. I see changes in Monument every day in terms of the merchants as a group reaching out to new business and getting more professional in their marketing efforts. At the same time the town maintains its provincial and simple day to day activities, one of the reasons we moved here.

Second Street Art Market has gone from a simple art gallery to one that has a full online store, art lessons for adults and children, special events and a diverse number of regular customers who say over and over again how much they love it.

Yesterday I spent a great deal of time on an outline of how I envision the wine bar. It is interesting to dive into the caverns of my own mind to pull out the ideas and thoughts I seem to have stored over the past ten years. I can see clearly as the day I was there different tasting rooms, wine shops, cafes and shops that I purposefully tried to make mental note of in order to do just what I did yesterday. Glad the brain is still cooperating to a certain extent at least.
