Those Days

There are just those days. No one wants to have them. They’re not necessarily bad days, just annoying ones.

The car engine light goes on, so you drop it off at the local repair place, who calls you in a couple of hours to say that it was just a crack in your gas cap. See? Not bad, just annoying.

You send twenty emails out, many of which need some kind of timely response, and four hours later, you haven’t heard back from anyone. They’re probably busy, but it means you can’t move forward with any of those things, or cross them off your to-do list.

You find out Frank has two finals the day the family was taking you skiing for your birthday, so your husband asks you to help change all the reservations, to one day later.

Somebody leaves a message saying they’ve heard through the grapevine that there’s bad news on the horizon. Not bad news about me, just bad news in general. Which always makes my stomach wonky.

Again, none of this is the stuff bad days are made of, just annoying days.

I’m preoccupied about something, so I can’t focus on writing, which is the thing that would probably take my mind off the rest of the annoying things happening. I’ve decided to hold off on book four for a bit. I laid the foundation. It is a book that may, or may not, ever get written. Instead, if I could only get lost in those two cowboys, Jace and Tucker, for a few hours, I’m sure I’d be a much happier girl.

Complaining off my chest, perhaps I’ll be able to focus on writing now.
